We have developed a number of
statistical software programs, which are free for you to download and use. Please recognize, however,
that hundreds of hours have been put into the development of these programs.
All we ask is that you properly cite them in any report or publication for
which you use their results. This is a very small price to
ask for these complicated routines. Each of the programs gives
the exact citations that we expect you to use in referencing them.
The programs which are available (in PKZIP format) are:
- HALLEY: A population
analysis program which constructs a life expectancy table, a
stable population model, a birth table, and a 10-year
cohort-component population projection. It has been used by
cities and other public agencies all over the world
- COHORT:
A 20-year cohort-component population projection program
- CRIMESTAT: A Spatial Statistics Program for the Analysis of Crime
Incident Locations. This program was developed for the National Institute of Justice and
is being used by the Baltimore County Police Department
and the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
The POINTSTAT spatial statistics program is no longer being supported as it
has been superceded by CrimeStat.
